Double Decker hosts 136 Art Vendors
Oxford-- Double Decker Arts Festival in Oxford, Miss. gathered thousands of people to The Square this spring. Live entertainment, artist vendors and food was provided for all the visitors. Double Decker is a yearly nonprofit festival that was put on by the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau. This is the sixteenth year that the festival has been going on.
About the artists
Over 136 artists had booths set up with their arts and crafts. Catherine Ann Herington had her booth set up and she said, “It was a wonderful turnout. We were so overwhelmed with all the people stopping at our booth that we ended up selling everything. I even had people taking orders from me, so I am going to be extra busy the next few weeks.” Another vendor, Caroline Reehl said, “It was a wonderful way to network with not only artists but people who wanted to sell my art in their stores. I met so many people from not just the Oxford community but all over the state. I got a lot of business cards!” There were also several well-known artists there from the community. Brooke Kimbro, an Ole Miss student said, “I came to the Double Decker Arts Festival this year just to see the artist, Larry Wamble. His art is amazing and I also love seeing the other artist’s creative ideas.”
Double Decker was a two day event this year where they had live music headliners like Old Crow Medicine Show and North Mississippi Allstars. There were 12 other bands that also performed on Friday and Saturday. The food vendors were lined up this year from pizza to barbeque to Italian ice which totaled over 30 food vendors. “I’ve gone to Double Decker the past four years and this year seemed to have a lot bigger turnout than any other year. There were people everywhere and never seemed to slow down throughout the day,” said Eric Kelly, a visitor of the festival.
